About Zuke’s Dog Treats
Fuel the adventure with Zuke’s high quality dog treats.
It all started with a guy named Patrick and his dog named Zuke. . .
Back in 1995, our founder, Patrick, was on a hike with his Chocolate Lab, Zuke, when he shared his energy bar with him to refuel so they could finish their trek. At that moment, he realized our dogs are just like us — they need healthy treats to keep them going, too. So he created Zuke’s treats, nutrient-rich and made with the Earth’s best ingredients.
Zuke’s was founded in Durango, Colorado and still remains dedicated to creating healthy dog treats. Join us on the journey from park to peak.
Our Story
0:10 My name is Patrick, I'm the founder of Zuke's.
0:12 The moment of inspiration,
0:14 how everything came together for Zuke's, we were on a hike, and we had gone up to the summit, and
0:21 when we reached the summit, he was completely exhausted.
0:25 So I shared some of my own human energy bar with him, and we're on our way back down and then just,
0:33 "Wow, Zuke has so much energy now, he feels so much better."
0:35 So on the way down I thought,
0:37 this is really something that dogs need, especially dogs that are active and outdoor.
0:45 A couple weeks later I quit my job and decided I was going to begin mixing up dog treats in my garage to help dogs out.
0:53 This is the summit of the Needles Elbert Creek Hike, and
0:56 this is really where it all began 20 years ago, so this is where we're going to go again today.
1:03 "All right, are you ready guys ready to load up? Let's load up, come on!"
1:06 "All right, you ready to go for a hike, buddy?"
1:12 Nutrition for a dog, it is the fuel that allows them to go out and have the adventure, so
1:17 I think you do begin there. You begin with what goes in, and
1:21 it has a one-to-one relationship with what they can give out to the world.
1:25 This is definitely where it gets fun for them, the leashes are about to come off.
1:30 Just getting the taste of what this hike is going to be like.
1:35 I think getting out of the house is an adventure for the dog.
1:40 There's whole different levels and degrees of what the adventure might be like,
1:43 but anywhere that they can get off-leash and get out and just let it rip,
1:51 look how happy, they are seriously happy.
1:55 The first Zuke's treat was made in my garage, and it was after coming off of this hike.
2:01 I went down and I went and researched what was not only good for
2:10 dogs when they're exercising and when they're active, but also for humans.
2:13 Wow, after 2,000 feet of climbing and a couple rainstorms we're finally up at the summit.
2:19 This is the perfect example of what the adventure is all about.
2:25 It's like a little gift.

Our Philosophy
We believe that what’s good for humans is good for pets. And our dogs have taught us that when you get healthier, you feel happier. Living that healthy life together is what keeps us going. From a visit to the dog park, to a stroll around the block, to a hike in the mountains, we believe “You can find adventure anywhere.”
Our Nutrition
Our nutritional philosophy in treats is rooted in the belief that nature gives our dogs everything they need to keep going. Purposeful ingredients like high-protein meats, vegetables and fruits, and essential vitamins and nutrients for a long, healthy and active life. And we never use corn, wheat, soy or artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. We believe our four-legged companions deserve the very best we (and nature) can give them to fuel every adventure.
